I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Kingdom of the Wicked (Kingdom of the Wicked #1) by Kerri Maniscalco was one of my most highly anticipated releases of this month. I absolutely adored her Stalking Jack the Ripper series, so my expectations were pretty sky high for her newest series opener. Luckily for me, it mostly pulled it off. The atmosphere of this book is off the charts and I also particularly enjoyed the world-building of the story's 19th century Italy and ...more

Set in Sicily in the 19th century, Kingdom of the Wicked focuses on Emilia and her family, who are Streghe, witches practicing undercover. When young witches start to be hunted down and brutally murdered, and the princes of hell, known as Malvagi, or the Wicked, walking the earth. 4 stars. Well, color me shocked. I wasn’t the biggest fan of Maniscalco’s Stalking Jack the Ripper series but I still wanted to read more from her. Especially something new and different because I think her writing has improved so much since her first book and I wanted to see if there could be a book of hers that I really enjoy. This was that book for me.
Now, I’ll say that she still isn’t that great at reveals because the murderer couldn’t have been more obvious but I’ll forgive her here becaus ...more

Kingdom of the Wicked is fun read. I really enjoyed my second time reading this book. I'm not Emilia's biggest fan because her behaviour irritated me at times and she is insanely reckless. Wrath is amazing. He is a demon so we know he can't be trusted but I can't help myself I love this character. I can't wait to him in the next book.
I loved the setting and all of food descriptions. I got hungry so many times XD ...more

I do not know why I took so long to read this book finally. It is utterly fantastic, and I am currently nursing a book hangover from finishing the second book in this trilogy.
Ok, about the book. The book follows a witch named Emilia who lives in a small Italian town with her family. Emilia has a twin, Vittoria, who is violently murdered, and Emilia vows to exact revenge on those who hurt her sister.
Throughout Emilia and Vittoria's life, their Nonna has explained to them the dangers of The Wick ...more

Gah, I wanted to love this, but it really felt flat for me. I can't decide if it's worth reading the rest of the series... It wasn't bad, I guess, but I just didn't really connect.
