Shelves: ya, fantasy, re-read, historical-fantasy

I really enjoyed this book and thought it was a little different to many of the YA books out there of this type. Katsa and Po were charming together- they were likeable protagonists and the resolution to the story was unconventional or at least not what I expected. I can't say too much without it being a spoiler, but I will say there was one event that I was glad did NOT happen when I thought it might. The Realm of the Gracelings was well portrayed.

This book was AMAZING. I absolutely loved it. The characters, the plot, the feeling the author gave me while reading. It was beautiful. My first favorite read for 2020. A 5 star read. I can't wait to read the rest of the series. ...more

Okay I'm going to say it........I DIDN'T LIKE THIS BOOK!!!!........Phew, that was easier than I thought!

It could have been really good.....but it wasn't, it was dull, dull, dull!

Katsa is graced, you know this because she has 2 different coloured eyes, graced people are basically gifted with types of superpowers, not flying and stuff, but fighting, mind reading, weather watching??, things like that.

A phenomenal fantasy adventure. I can't wait to get my hands on book 2 and continue the adventure with Katsa, Po and Bitterblue. The way the author weaves together the adventure and the little bit of romance is absolutely wonderful. I found myself smiling and laughing all the way throughout, believing these characters were real because their emotions, problems, and overall interactions with each other we're completely believable.
