Why I Decided to Read This:
This series was recommended to me, so I knew I had to read it.

Plot:
Kathleen just lost her husband to a horse accident, so Devon inherits the earldom and is now responsible for the estate. However, Devon and Kathleen do not see eye-to-eye on many things regarding what should happen next. I did like the plot of this book. I had read Marrying Winterborne first, and just had to go back and start from the beginning of this awesome series. Devon Ravenel is horrified when his cousin unexpectedly dies and Devon inherits his deteriorating, massively in debt estate, along with his widow and three sisters. He never planned on the burden of owning land, being responsible for tenants, owing debt. This book got a good start, but somehow it felt flat in the end. For some reason I had a hard time coming to terms with the time period of this book. There is nothing wrong with it, but I learned that I prefer books that are set in the Regency period. Kathleen and Devon are a good couple, but their story was too straightforward for me. I was not completely entertained, although the pet pig was cute and funny.
