Why I Decided to Read This:
This series was recommended to me, so I knew I had to read it.

Plot:
Kathleen just lost her husband to a horse accident, so Devon inherits the earldom and is now responsible for the estate. However, Devon and Kathleen do not see eye-to-eye on many things regarding what should happen next. I did like the plot of this book. I do love historical romance and while I thought this book was a fun read, the latter quarter was taken up with setting up the next book. Given that the next book seemed like it would be more entertaining than this instalment I think it detracted from this book. Thus making me less interested in Devon and Kathleen. It made any scenes they had pale in comparison to what was occurring with Helen.

I am looking forward to the next book in the series Marrying Mr Winterbourne.

This book got a good start, but somehow it felt flat in the end. For some reason I had a hard time coming to terms with the time period of this book. There is nothing wrong with it, but I learned that I prefer books that are set in the Regency period. Kathleen and Devon are a good couple, but their story was too straightforward for me. I was not completely entertained, although the pet pig was cute and funny.

An interesting story. The unwelcome changes experienced by the cold-hearted Rake develop throughout the story until finally the rake becomes aware. Love the twins and Helen.
