I had high expectations for this book and I was not disappointed. I myself am surprised by this, because it is not quite a book that I should like.

I usually avoid humorous books, especially those more like chick-lit, because I don't find them funny at all, but only irritating. The silly main characters who constantly get into trouble are not something I want to read about. And while there were times in this book where I rolled my eyes or felt embarrassed, I still had a pretty good time.

More Finlay Donovan, please! This book was just the right amount of cozy murder mystery, friendship, romance, and humor to break my reading slump. A struggling single mom with a cheating ex-husband who then gets caught up with the mafia and murder… What more can you ask for in a summer read?

What I loved most about this book - other than the humorous situations Finlay kept finding herself in - was the relationship development. Not the relationship development between her and a love interest, but ...more

It’s like watching a movie. It was fun. I would re-read it. I enjoyed the humour, the tastefully written romance and the friendship between Finlay and Vero. I enjoyed Elle Cosimano’s writing. I would like to try her other books. I am definitely looking forward to continuing with the series.

3.5 rounded up. This was kind of the feel of a cozy mystery but a step up from what I normally get from those. It was funny and kind of ridiculous but not to any extreme. I love the way the plot started out with Finlay being mistaken for a hit woman because whenever my friends or family and I talk about TV shows or books I always wonder what a person who randomly overheard would think lol
