Finlay Donovan is a divorced mom of two young children. While discussing her latest book with her editor a diner at a nearby table mistakes Finlay for a contract killer and she gives Finlay a note asking her to kill her husband. Finlay decides to scope out the man during a networking session at a local bar. The situation spirals from there. Finlay annoyed me at the beginning of the book, who would ever decide placing massive amounts of duct tape on a child's head was a good idea. Once the nanny ...more

“It’s a widely known fact that most moms are ready to kill someone by eight thirty A.M. on any given morning.

This was such a fun little book. A very fast read, fast paced and a great mystery. I found myself giggling, shaking my head and just all around loving the plot. Finlay is a fun character, full of spunk but also beat down a bit by life. Her stumbling into a new line of work is absolutely hilarious. I loved her partner in crime, Vero, and all their hilarious conversations. I liked her sorti

Finlay Donovan, Vero, Nick Anthony, Steven

I really enjoyed this story. How one person can find themselves in so many crazy situations I'll never know. And to have a sidekick like Vero egging you on. It was just downright crazy..

I was captivated from the first, but there is a reason I didn't give this 5 stars. I wanted Finlay to have more backbone when it came to her situation with Steven and Theresa. How are women still putting themselves in a position to be dependent on their significant other

Loved this book. The narrator of the audiobook is fantastic and really kept me engaged.

A misunderstanding turns a mystery writer into a potential hitman. Only the plot goes terribly wrong leaving her dealing with dead bodies and the mob.

There is a good balance of comedy and drama. I liked the relationship between Finlay and Vero and how they figure out how to get themselves out of this complicated mess while taking care of two energetic preschoolers!

I drove the long way home so I could finish

Juvenile, immature, and annoying main character, and wasn’t sure it was worth going beyond 12%. Didn’t see what was funny about it.

3.5 rounded up. This was kind of the feel of a cozy mystery but a step up from what I normally get from those. It was funny and kind of ridiculous but not to any extreme. I love the way the plot started out with Finlay being mistaken for a hit woman because whenever my friends or family and I talk about TV shows or books I always wonder what a person who randomly overheard would think lol
The characters were likable, especially Finlay and Vero, I loved their dynamic. I think my enjoyment also cam
