This was epic! I loved all the detail, the characters, not just the main characters of Jamie and Claire, but all of the supporting cast too. I finally took the plunge with this book and am pleased to have the rest of the series to look forward to. The audio was good too although the cats are getting fed up with me talking to them with an exaggerated Scottish accent and calling them Sassenach…

4 stars. I’m upset that it took me so long to read this book. I had some preconceived notions about it and I had a feeling that I probably wasn’t going to like it. I’m laughing at myself right now because I was so wrong. I really freakin’ enjoyed this.

The writing is fantastic and I loved the setting. The pacing is a bit slow going in the beginning but around 150 pages or so things start to pick up. Claire is a fantastic heroine and I love ...more

This was my second time reading Outlander and I didn't enjoy it as much the second go-round. Maybe this goes on the list of "Books I wish I could read again for the first time." Don't get me wrong--Jamie is absolutely THE most romantic and sweetest man of all time. And Claire....I would never have survived in her situation. But I just didn't love it to 5-stars this time around. ...more

I have really mixed feelings about this one. The writing was really well done, but at times I felt like it was just dragging on. The book is really long. It was well researched. There is a very strong religious backbone to the story, which is written to the time I know, just not sure it was for me. There are points where Jamie straight up rapes her, she says no and he says you will obey me because you are my wife. Not sure if I will continue with this series or not.
