This is a fun, unique story about a band of women, now in their sixties, finally retiring from their life as assassins. That's right, they worked for an organization that targeted bad people and put out the hit on them. They scooped each of these women up when they were young, taugth them well, and then turned them out in to the world. I love the premise but the tale didn't quite rise to the occasion. It is easy to read & fairly entertaining but it just didn't pull me in, I suppose I was misled by some of the hype. It is good but it should be fabulous.

Four 60-year-old female assassins about to retire find themselves with a price on their heads. I expected more humour, there's certainly scope for it, but it was all told pretty straight. I never felt I got to know any of them very well, except, perhaps, Billie, the narrator. We ...more

Billie, Mary Alice, Helen and Natalie are assassins who have reached retirement age. They have worked for The Museum, a secret, independent organization, killing targeted people such as war lords and traffickers. The Museum sends the four on a luxury retirement cruise but they soon discover a member of The Museum is on the ship and is planning to kill them. Did you think old ladies were too decrepit to be a threat? That might be your last mistake. This was such a fun read. Lots of anti-ageism and badass grannies. Funny and plenty of satisfying comeuppance upon the men of the world.

Despite the title, this was 100% a feel good read. Funny, clever, fun, adventurous, and mostly believable. I really enjoyed this, and really wish it was book one in a series rather than a standalone. So good.
