Auren/Midas totally threw me off. I was not expecting that even after Captain Fane. Though with her ribbons it should have been obviously that she wasn't totally human. But Rip I saw coming it. I had a feeling there was more to him than what was shown. The whole army was just too loyal to him and he seemed to have too much authority.

I am totally invested in this series. I LOVE the slow progression of the MC -- it actually does take time to overcome sh*t. I love that the support for that change is coming from unexpected sources and that they see something in the MC that she cannot. I find the Melina parts an odd addition, but assume the author is building that to something that will make sense. My biggest dilemma now is whether to just plow through the rest or pace myself so I don't have a huge wait until the next book in Ju
