A quick, light fun urban fantasy read. Apparently this series is the basis for True Blood. As I don't really watch TV this doesn't mean anything to me! Will definitely continue intermittently and see how the series pans out. ...more

Well Urban Fantasy isn't something that I would chose to pick up as a rule, but it was for a reading challenge, so I pulled up my big-girl panties and dove in, I'm so glad I did as I loved it!

I kind of knew what i was getting into as I had watched the True Blood series on TV, however I only watched about half of the first season, so I have no idea where it goes from there.

Sookie Stackhouse is a waitress in a bar, she is very ordinary and has nothing special about her, well apart from the fact th

I loved my first Sookie Stackhouse book a lot! Sookie is human and she has the ability to read others' minds. That is until she meets the vampire Bill. She and Bill fall for each other and I absolutely love their relationship and their attraction to each other.

In this book there is love, romance, murder, theft, betrayal, shape-shifting, and so much more than I ever expected. I was surprised at the first shape-shifting! I wasn't expecting it which made it more fun for me.

Some killings that take p

I didn't finish the series yet during my first read-through years ago, so I thought to start from the beginning again. I didn't like it as much. The romance here reminds me a lot of the "romance" in the Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, where the MC is with the guy mainly because they're immune to whatever ability the MC has. In Addie's case, only two people can remember her beyond a day, and she romanced them both; in here, Sookie can't read Bill's mind. The characters (or maybe it's the narration ...more

I had started this book a few years ago and never got through it. But I started it again and I am glad I did. It was good! I really enjoyed the story line and could appreciate the main characters for all of their traits, good and bad.

I have the rest of the series on my TBR list and have it on my Kindle so I am ready and excited to read the rest of the series.

This is a reread for me. Sookie is thrown into the supernatural world of vampires when Vampire Bill Compton comes to the bar. Sookie claims that her gift is an disability that she hates, because people see her different than others. There's a killer out there that kill any woman that has bedded a vampire and he's after Sookie. ...more

Rereading this series after nearly twenty years. It's just as good as I remember. ...more
