What Members Thought

interesting. strange. bizarre.
The Enchanter, Hector Bowen and mystery man, Alexander hatch some kind of plan to pit their protege's against one another in a challenge which only ends in the death of one of the combatants. Of course, the protege's know nothing of this caveat and fall in love, thwarting the game, or so they thought.

I've been reading this on and off for a couple of months and taking breaks to read others in between. I think any time that I take a break from a book is not a good sign. It means I got bored. But, I guess I did keep coming back so that makes it worth something.
The stories were interesting and I did like the idea and concept of the magic and the circus.

I really loved this book, despite it taking me an inordinately long amount of time to read. There was so much detail to it though - it actually deserves a second read. I adored Celia, who is one of my favourite characters in recent books. The magic and the whole idea was fantastic - I can only admire the author's imagination.

This book an interesting one, even though when I read a couple of years ago I didn't pass the 20-page mark. This time I was interested to read before reading "Caraval", that I got on an "Owlcrate" subscription book box. Because I was afraid I wouldn't pass again the 20-page mark, I decided to listen to the audiobook and following it with my paperback copy. Jim Dale was the narrator and I absolutely loved his voice and the voices and accents he did for all the characters.

What a fabulously conceived book. The detail in the setting and story line were magnificent. Some say characters were poorly defined but i felt i knew them well enough. There is lots of imagery to do with books, writing, writing on top of writing . ink patterns etc. It seemed like the author is saying the interpretation is yours. I think she purposely does not fully illuminate the characters

Well I didn't get into this book at the beginning. I got into it when magic started. I enjoyed listening to all the magic happen. I was waiting for the final battle between the two magicians.
The characters were very entertaining. I enjoyed Bailey and Cecelia. I am glad that I decided to read this book by Erin Morgenstern. I will have to look at some of her other books. ...more

Celia and Marco are attached to each other in a game when they are children. Once they become adults they must play out the game in a special circus, the circus of dreams. It took me awhile to get into this book but by the end I was totally in love with it. I want to become a memebr of Le Cirque des Reves. A great love story and a magical book.

This book is about magic and I really can't think of a more appropriate word to describe this book! However, I'll try :) The book is a great mix of mystery, illusion, love, friendship, tragedy, wonderment, and just plain fun. The senses are all engaged in this story. What a great read!
