I love this series. Luke is a retired Black Hawk pilot who comes to Virgin River as he bought a house and some cabins to renovate and sell. He meets Shelby, who spent the last 5 years taking care of her sick mother. Her mother has died and Shelby is ready to get on with her life. He's trying to stay away from her as she is 25 and he is 38 but, of course, love prevails. There are some tears and of course, some laughter in this book. I decided to carry on with the Virgin River series, I really like it. All the books are really easy to read and you don't have to think about them too much.

This book focuses on Shelby a twenty Five year old woman who in some terms is very naive but also immensely strong. She has been the main care giver for her Mother for the past few years who had terminal illness. Sometimes you just need a comfort book to get out of your reading slump and this was it for me. It is always great to come back to Virgin River and catch up on the favorites (Mel & Jack, Paige & Preacher, Mike & Brie, etc) This book was about Shelby and Luke both who we have seen as minor characters in past books. I like the chemistry between the two, I like that Shelby took the initiative and fixed their relationship (with a little help) Like always in this series so much else always happens. D ...more

I loved this story. Heck, I love all the denizens of Virgin River that have been introduced so far.

This book broke my heart with the loss of a beloved character, and made me laugh too.

The book, as always, introduced a new main couple. This time Shelby and Luke. These two had a connection from the moment they met on their way into town. Neither was going to Virgin River planning to stay.

Another sweet book in this series. I think there might just be too many characters to keep track of already. There are so many sidestories going on, new and old characters and their lives to follow. As always I am still amazed at the number of these gentle men in this small rural village.

I don't think Robyn Carr could write a bad book. This is the second book I have read by her and it is part of her Virgin River series and although I didn't connect with the characters as well in this one as I did in her first book of the series I totally enjoyed this one. Not normally my cuppa this book is a May/December relationship type of book. Luke is 13 years older the Shelby and Carr did an excellent job of acknowledging it.
