This is the first time I've watched a film and then read the book. It has been an eye-opening experience. The Netflix show produced by Shonda Rhimes is not anything like the book. Ms. Rhimes adds scenes with a king and queen, boxing matches, torrid love affairs, racial differences, and more. While the book offers a tame story of Victorian England, the TV show is R-rated. The big mystery around Lady Whistledown, who writes a gossip leaflet, is handled in different ways.

I've heard of these books long before Shonda made these into the Brigerton netflix series everyone is obsessed with. I had heard some not so good things about the books but I decided I needed to read these to kinda judge the series.

2017 ★★★:
I'm not familiar with historical romances, they are not exactly the closest to me. The story is light, sometimes quite witty and funny, but of course it is also predictable.

Both Daphne and Simon are nice characters; Simon has some traumas from childhood, but he is not annoying. They're a great couple! Daphne's numerous family, mother and brothers and sisters are also pretty cute.

I like that the book also has an epilogue what makes the ending nicely.

Book lacked actual plot, character development, and there was a rape scene. Then tried to make the characters reason it wasn’t rape??? Just no. tv show was better
