Shelves: borrowed-from-overdrive, historical, look-at-the-pretty-cover, stand-alone, e-book, adult, read-on-my-kindle, for-a-challenge, 2022, great-side-characters
4 stars. I wish I had something wonderful and profound to say to describe this book but I don’t. Honestly, when do I ever but still. Something about this author’s writing style is just so lush and gorgeous and almost whimsical.

This book has to do with a plague and there are two timelines. One in 1912 and the other 300 years later. I think there was a nice balance between the two and I never felt that we spent too long in one or the other. The characters were great but I think the one real nitpi ...more

Three years after publication, I finally read this book. It’s just as great as all of her other books! Time travel that creates mystery with genius chronology of events. Excellent read!

Well, I didn't love this. I didn't hate it either. I found myself interested mostly in Olive's story, and if I'm honest, I really wanted a book about her. There were interesting bits in the other timelines, but I wasn't excited about anything there. ...more

I wish wish wish it were longer. It is playful and yet moving and sad. It is another alternate universe from Station 11 and the pandemic, and Vincent’s films from The Glass Hotel, and also our own universe…in a way…as Olive is on a book tour during a pandemic, being asked about what it’s like to have written a book about a pandemic that gained popularity (she is promoting the upcoming film) during a pandemic. This was very different and at some points confusing. But once I reached the end I had to sit and think, which I think is what makes a good book. The last third of the book was the best.
