"When you dig just the tiniest bit beneath the surface, everyone's love life is original and interesting and nuanced and defies any easy definition."

This was a wonderful read and one that definitely surprised me. I loved going through each relationship and point in Evelyn's life. I also enjoyed learning about Monique, the one that is helping narrator and give life to Evelyn and her story. I was sad and happy and even frustrated with the story at times, but that is what made it wonderful!

I am still trying to wrap my head around how amazing this book was and how I can put it in words that make sense. Go read this book.

I have never read a book quite like this before. It was fictional, but felt like it was so real. Taylor Jenkins Reid has a real ability to pull you into her characters lives and worlds as if they’re real. With this, I want to go watch all Evelyn Hugo’s movies and find the tabloid articles about her to try to compare them to the truth she tells to Monique. I was comp

Taylor Jenkins Reid's writing is absolutely remarkable. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is something, something. Yes, the hype made me delay reading this book, but the truth is I liked it very much. I read the e-book through the Scribd app and listened through Audible.
The way the book was organized to take us on this journey was clever. Monique alternately narrates it. The reporter was appointed to write the biography of Evelyn (Herrera) Hugo and Evelyn herself. Going back and forth between p

Initially I really liked this book and Evelyn. I liked how strong she was while she pursued her goals. But as it went on, I started losing interest because it seemed like the same storyline being repeated. I thought this was going to be more serious than it was. It was entertaining at times but because I was bored the rest of the time, I don’t know if I’ll read any of her other books.

It's been awhile since I have read an adult book and I miss reading them. I loved this book and I think it was the perfect book to bridge that gap from YA to adult. It was the story of a women's rise to fame...it also was her fall and what it took for her to rebuild her career once one man had it striped away from her. This book made you mad at Evelyn one minute and happy and loving her the next. She told the story of how each husband came into her life and what each of their roles were in her l ...more

From a favorite author a different kind of book than she normally writes. I wanted to love it, but no.............it just never clicked with me, however near the end I teared up a few times. 3 1/2 stars.

Evelyn Hugo is finally ready to tell the truth about her glamorous and scandalous life. But when she chooses unknown magazine reporter Monique Grant for the job, no one in the journalism community is more astounded than Monique herself. Why her? Why now?

Monique is not exactly on top of the world.

Monique Grant writes mostly fluff pieces for a magazine. Hollywood star Evelyn Hugo has decided she wants a biography written covering her life and for unknown reasons chooses Monique to write it. I found Evelyn's story very interesting, though she wasn't always likeable, and as in the other book I've read by this author I could believe Evelyn was a real actress. I thought Monique's story was rather boring so it lowered my rating of the book a bit. Early on the book took a turn I didn't expect a ...more

I could not put this one down. Just loved it.
Every now and then, I'd forget this wasn't the story of a real actress.
A great book for the summer.

What a surprisingly great novel! Crisp, fresh writing, complex characters and a captivating plot. I am glad I listened to all the rave reviews and gave this a chance-- while a book about a fictional movie star is not necessarily my go-to read, this proved to be entertaining, moving, and surprising.
