It proves that time, distance, and devestation allow people enough opportunity to craft villians out of people they don't even know. But she was never a villain. She was a victim. We all were.

This is the second book that I have read by CoHo and everybody has raved about her for years. Up until now none of her book's blurbs have actually interested me. The horror you're all probably reading. I always figure it was all YA. Not my cuppa.

But then I read the blurb of Reminders of him and I was so in It proves that time, distance, and devestation allow people enough opportunity to craft villians out of people they don't even know. But she was never a villain. She was a victim. We all were.

This is the second book that I have read by CoHo and everybody has raved about her for years. Up until now none of her book's blurbs have actually interested me. The horror you're all probably reading. I always figure it was all YA. Not my cuppa.

But then I read the blurb of Reminders of him and I was so intrigued I had to read it. And it blew me away! So much so that I also bawled my frigging eyes out from nearly start to finish.

CoHo herself wrote that although over the years her aim was to write romantic comedy it just never turned out that way. The characters did what they wanted to and IMO if it works then there is no need to fix it.

Our heroine made a mistake, a mistake that impacted the lives of everyone around her. But when is the time to let go? To not base one's opinion on completely on one awful choice that was made. It is something that she will need to live with for the rest of her life but the one thing after paying for the consequences of her actions that she wants and that is to be meet her daughter.

I frigging adore the heroine after everything that has happened, she has always tried to make the best out of the situation but there comes a point where is only so much one can take and she has hit her limit. But then she finds support in the most unlikely place.

So, this is where things got iffy for a while and as I enjoyed this book so much, I'm just going to ignore it. The trope won't be for everyone which is dead husband/boyfriend, add in that the new love interest is the best friend but through circumstances they never met. As I wrote. Iffy.

The Hero's straight off infatuation and insta-whatever with the heroine was off putting. It was too full on and somewhat creepy. Once that was toned down it got better for me. I love the Hero and I especially love the Hero's interaction with Diem. Sooo frigging adorable. ...more

Tear jerker

There was multiple emotions in this story. Sadness for all that Kenna was going through, anger toward Ledger, Diem was the sweetest kid and mix feelings for Scotts parents. Though I understand why all the anger towards Kenna but we all have to forgive especially when we didn't get the while story of knew what someone was going through. I liked Roman, he was the only person to give someone the benefit of the doubt to give her a chance. He's a good guy.

Again, Colleen Hoover did it. Another tearjerker. Another lovely piece that made me want to hop into this imaginary world and give everyone a big hug. I am going to be very honest in my review because I don't want to come off as biased towards CoHo (five starring all her books).
Romance novels are normally cliche and predictable. But I am so tired of picking up a book and can tell the entire story by just reading the first 5 pages. I am in search of romance books that are the exact opposite. But Again, Colleen Hoover did it. Another tearjerker. Another lovely piece that made me want to hop into this imaginary world and give everyone a big hug. I am going to be very honest in my review because I don't want to come off as biased towards CoHo (five starring all her books).
Romance novels are normally cliche and predictable. But I am so tired of picking up a book and can tell the entire story by just reading the first 5 pages. I am in search of romance books that are the exact opposite. But this is so hard to find because that just IS the world of romance: Predictable and Cliche. Maybe that's why I've hung on to CoHo's every word for so long. She has somehow taken the Cliche aspect out of the norm but things are still very much predictable, from beginning to end. From reading the first few pages, I could've predicted what was most likely going to happen.
And this is why I am giving this book four stars. I am really disappointed with the ending. I held onto hope for the unexpected, however, the expected would hit me with every chapter I read, and the close I came to the end. When the Landrys (view spoiler). I honestly thought that this situation represents a hurt that, in reality, takes time to heal, time that Kenna's presence after five years shattered. I expected after that, a much tougher road to forgiveness but that (view spoiler). I honestly did not expect it to end as it did; (view spoiler).
(view spoiler) was another situation that gave me hope that the ending would not be the bland and predictable end that I foresaw. However, that situation was just (view spoiler)happened.
TO BE FAIR THOUGH I know that the writer must write to appeal to the masses and in the world of romance, this is the ending that all the hopeless romantics reading this book wanted but for me who craves unpredictability, I wanted something else. I wanted something other than "and they all lived happily ever after"
Furthermore, I must note that the climax towards the end wasn't as monumental as I thought it would've been considering the storyline, and the transition to the end was way off-script. It's like I went from hot to cold in a matter of seconds. I even rolled my eyes and groaned when it happened (although I expected it, I groaned) because I thought CoHo isn't going to give us such a bland end. But what do I expect? That CoHo disregards the desire of the entire romance community just to appease the 0.5% like me out there? Giving us a heartwrenching, earth-shattering end and not the cinderella story ending would be bookicide!!
But, I have no doubt this book will be deemed a bestseller, but for me, I have to four-star it. The end was just not me.
All in all, great work Colleen. BTW Great playlist. Found myself downloading it. lol ...more

I have been reading Colleen Hoover books since I was in high school (I graduated college already) and I thought that I would grow out of them; but I love to see how her novels keep evolving to the point where I can still relate to characters.
