Question: Why is this listed as YA Horror? It's mostly romance with a mystery and a hint of thriller. The murderer is revealed far too soon, and then after the build up for Makani's big secret, the reveal is a huge let down. There's no real suspense or scares - blood yes, thrills no. I also had a hard time caring about any of the characters (Makani is very selfish and grating), plus the only ones in real danger are those in the background who get all of two lines. This book starts off so strong with its creepy factor but fails to keep the tone going. There's Someone in your house struggles with not knowing what type of book it is or what story it wants to tell. It was advertised as a horror/thriller style book but in reality it is a romance book with a sort of mystery. Everything else was a mess. I didn't care ab

I reeeeally wanted to like this book. Stephanie Perkins is one of my favorite authors, so it feels almost sacrilegious to say I didn't like this book...but I didn't. I knew this would be different from her Anna/Lola/Isla books because of the slasher aspect, but I like a good mystery too, so I was ready for it. It was good during the first half, but once the pieces of the puzzle started to come together, it took a turn.

The reveal of the killer's identity was disappointing. The killer's motive was
