I really enjoyed this one. I feel like the WoT series is really rolling right now and I’m planning on reading at least one a month.

I’d love to finish the series in 2022 (which will still be a challenge). Jordan’s world-building and character development takes time, but it’s so rewarding to see characters grow and develop over these books.

Finally this series has started click for me! The 4th book is when the series starts to come into its own and if this carries on, I’ll be a very happy reader.

Although slow at the start, once our cast of characters separate and go off on their own adventures the book really starts to get interesting.

Through Rands storyline, we get to learn the entire history of one of the various cultures in this world in reverse chronological order which was so cool to me. I loved making the connections as to w ...more

This book is certainly MUCH longer than the 3 before it; however, this is truly peak narrative for some of the characters involved. Perrin Goldeneyes? *swoon* Mat and Rand going thru (view spoiler) together? Fantastic. We also get so much information on the Aiel and their complicated society, much to my delight. The action sequences are also longer... and bloodier. I'll likely read New Spring next as to not interrupt the main storyline's flow. Overall, this series has just gotten better and better from book 1 onward. I am eager to see where the crew will be in a month's time from the end of this book's events. Let the Dragon ride again on the winds of time....

I love Lanfear. Idgaf what anyone has to say. She's so interesting and I'm always intrigued by her schemes and machinations on Rand's behalf. It was also HILARIOUS to see Mat try and win her over, as she's disguised as Isendre, completely oblivious to the obvious signs she was putting out there.

I still have my reservations regarding Rand's romance (now a three-way split, four depending on if you kinda sorta include Lanfear). But Aviendha's developing crush and skill was so fun to read alongside Rand's ignorance on the topic of women. Speaking of romances, I'm also still on the fence regarding Perrin + Faile (she reads borderline abusive at times) but it would be silly of me to deny how cute and wholesome their wedding was along with Perrin walking along the battlefield seeing nothing but Faile and her beauty. I'm convinced he's a sucker for pain, but at least Faile is a beautiful sort of pain for him. I hear it gets worse, but hopefully it doesn't. My boy Perrin lost his entire family in one go... He deserves some semblance of happiness.

Lots of interesting developments in Tanchico. Elayne and Nynaeve had the more thrilling adventure compared to Egwene, but only marginally. Nynaeve took on a Foresaken and also realized she can channel with an emotion other than anger (pride maybe?) so that's a massive development. Egwene still had a fantastic story and has so much to learn and show off.

Tel'aran'rhiod is still an interesting space with the inclusion of Slayer--who is more likely than not, Lord Luc... Elayne and Egwene are developing their dream-world skills and we're also introduced to Aiel dreamwalkers. Really loving this realm and also the occasional appearance of Brigitte.

My favorite of the series so far! I couldn’t decide on a favorite POV, each character was facing such engaging challenges, and I was on the edge of my seat reading about how each was pushed. The character development was the best yet, and the balance of character/plot/world-building was done extremely well. Thoroughly enjoyed this book even though it took 5 months to read on kindle. Great story not a lot of action happened more world building. Looking forward reading the next book for the next 5 months.
