I only recently had the pleasure of reading EveryDay Life cover to cover. The characters are vivid, especially L. I get a clear sense of the fine line he walks: his cynicism about the powers that be delicately balanced with his desire for bigger and better things and his love for and commitment to his daughter.Hardie has a great ear for dialogue.
