"He is half of my soul, as the poets say"
"And perhaps it is the greater grief, after all, to be left on earth when another is gone. Don't you think?"
This is honestly one of the hardest books I have to review, as when I finished reading this, I am caught between the anguish of how tragic it is, the love between Patroclus and Achilles is and how many things could have been done to preserve their love had Achilles took a better approach on the conflicts that rose during the Trojan War. This book left me speechless. It's told through Patroclus' point of view, which was surprising to me, given that he dies first, but I guess we have heard a lot about Achilles' perspective. This is my favorite book I have ever read. As much as I love reading, I’m not very fast and get distracted easily. I picked up this book one day and finished it the next. I have never read such a beautiful and glorious telling of romantic, undying love. The writing does an amazing job at pulling the reader in and describing the people and settings that it’s almost as if you’re a sideline character. Im jealous of anyone who gets to read this book for the first time. 10000000/10 recommend

It is a testament to Madeline's writing skills that someone like me, who has never been wildly interested in Greek mythology, fell in love with this book. I have never felt a character's loss as deeply as I did in this book and it will certainly stay with me.
