3.5 stars. I loved so much about this book but it went a bit long. It dragged for a bit in the second half. But then I loved the ending. I think what I want to communicate is that if you are reading the book, stay in through the tedious bits because the ending is worth it. Even if you don’t love the ending like I did, it’s discussable and interesting. If you are in line for the end, stay in line.
The premise was better than the execution. This book was definitely way too long, the side characters were more interesting and likable than the FMC, and it took some dark and unhinged turns during the final third. I don't like books making me feel anxious, especially when the on ramp felt like a realistically magical rom-com! The ending was satisfying, thank goodness.
