perhaps the term emotionally fulfilled scratches the surface but other than that, no clue

4.5 stars. It is hard to believe this was a debut novel. Erin Morgenstern excels at concept creation and world building. Her writing is lyrical and transports the reader. The night circus is written with such care that I found myself wishing it was a real place. The reason I can't give this book 5 stars is the romantic pacing. The main leads don't meet until about halfway through the book, and from that moment fall in love incredibly fast. (view spoiler)

I am glad that I gave this book a second chance.
I dnf'd years ago due to the second person, present tense perspective that just rubbed me up the wrong way. Luckily second person was used sparingly and I got used to the present tense.
Once I got over that I was able to absorb myself in this original and creative book all about magic and the imagination. The author does a great job of portraying setting and bringing the story alive for the reader. On that count I cannot fault this book. I did, how ...more

Le volví a dar una segunda oportunidad a este libro y no lo sé. Creo que para mi, es un libro lento y no me emocionó hasta que llevaba el 60% de este 🥴 estuve tentada a darle de nuevo el dnf, pero el juego entre Marco y Celia me tenia intrigada y quería saber cómo terminaba todo. Que al final fue muy meh pero al mismo tiempo fue bonito que terminaran juntos.
Creo que la última parte sin duda es la mejor y tiene un cierre. Yo pensando que sería algo más abierto.

I purchased the physical book around a year ago so i had enough time theorizing what the story might be based on all I've heard about it from around.
I can't say that I'm quite satisfied though and certainly i am not disappointed, either.
Maybe something in between.
But there were a whole lot things that could have gone better.
