What Members Thought
This is an excellent debut novel. Crewe does something interesting when he writes detailed sex scenes in a very proper Victorian manner. It has the effect of giving those scenes significant prominence in the novel. I’m not sure how much they add to it in the final analysis. I think the opening scene was the strongest of these and I would not have been disappointed if it had been the only one.
