What Members Thought

Dry in parts but absolutely magnificent in others (like the American Revolution chapters), this book only has two main shortfalls. First, there's not enough political economy here. Explaining where stolen cargoes are sold is half of any good explanation of piracy in some or other place or time, and this book is so eager to get out to sea that it just leaves that stuff under-discussed or straight up ignored.
