The stories are all over the place. I blasted through the first four, which were weird horror far ahead of their time with a framing device (the titular play, which second act drives its audience to madness) that was well-employed. I loved how characters from one story made guest appearances in the others.

No real interest in the final stories in the book, but the first four, the “weird fiction,” were true oh unique and entertaining. The Yellow Sign in particular has a very disquieting ache of disgust throughout, ending in climax.
