What Members Thought

Thank you to Josie for buddy reading this with me :)! I had a wonderful time sharing my thoughts and ranting about the plot and characters with you!
“All the beauty of the stars means nothing when life here on earth is so ugly.”
I’d heard many great things about this book and every reader I know was recommending this to me. I thought it’d be a five star read but some aspects of the book didn’t really leave a mark on me. However, it kept me wanting to know more about what happened next. It was ...more

This book was such a fun read (3.5⭐️ rounded up)
*kinda out of context spoilers but nothing serious*
The plot was really interesting and well thought out, and I loved the storyline of Laia figuring out who she can and can’t trust, the mysteries of The Resistance & the Augurs and everything concerning them.
The pace was also rlly nice and there weren’t any significant boring moments, and the POV change rlly adds a lot.

I had absolutely no intention of staying up late to finish this book. But once I hit a good groove I just couldn’t put it down. It’s been a while since a book has had me second guessing or questioning everyone and everything, on top of not knowing who to root for. I had so many thoughts and feelings (sorry reaction buddies for blowing up your messages 🤣🙈) but wow was this good! Even with a slow start, I enjoyed this book far more than I expected. I’m ready for book 2!

ALTHOUGH THIS REVIEW MOSTLY TALKS ABOUT THE BAD THINGS IN THIS STORY, PLEASE NOTE THAT I LIKE THE BOOKS
When I first read Ember, I fell in love with the story after the first few chapters. A book heavily based on military governments and racist/classist oppression? A story about a soldier and a spy who team up to fuck the law- and each other? I'm game.there's no banging in this book, though
But looking back at it now, I think I'm gonna lower my ratings for this series, because it wasn't as epic ...more

YOU DONT KNOW HOW MUCH I LOVED THIS BOOK
I initially was hesitant upon reading the synopsis of this book, but when I decided to read it and picked it up, I realized the mistake I made by hesitating. Everything in this book was literally perfect. The characters, the setting, the development of the plot, it was all on-point and exact. Don't deny yourself the experience that comes from reading this book. ...more
