I realllyyy liked the book. But i did not love it.

To the book: Its me, not you
I might have loved it if it was set in not-modern time. Again, a me problem, not a book problem.

I thought it would be a deeper connection or smth idk.

The Inheritance Games was an altogether enjoyable book. I really loved the mystery and the suspences. The characters were charming, and the plot was also interesting.

This book was a solid read. It was fast paced, adventurous, and made me feel that I was also solving the riddles. Which I was because I'm basically Nancy Drew after reading this book (but not really because of the way Max tried to make her swearing family friendly had me guessing for a solid 5 minutes.) Oh. My. God.

This book, wow. I love it. It’s like the freaking Winchester house.

So I’ll be honest, I wasn’t planning on reading this book anytime soon but when I read the description, I was hooked.

If you don’t know, I’m a big fan of mysteries and riddles and hidden passageways and unpredictable places. I love wonderland and the chaos of the dirty side of Ketterdam. I love murder mysteries and detective shows. And I am obsessed with the Winchester house.

So when I read this book, y’all know I had s Oh. My. God.

This book, wow. I love it. It’s like the freaking Winchester house.

If you don’t know, I’m a big fan of mysteries and riddles and hidden passageways and unpredictable places. I love wonderland and the chaos of the dirty side of Ketterdam. I love murder mysteries and detective shows. And I am obsessed with the Winchester house.

So when I read this book, y’all know I had so much fun.

This book takes place in our real world in what I believe is supposed to be present day. Avery Grambs is a teenage girl trying to make her way through high school and go to college, desperate to make a good enough living that she doesn’t have to live in her car. Until a multi-billionaire dies and has named her in his will and gave her pretty much everything. Starting right off with the mystery, why her? In order to get to keep the money, Avery has to follow one requirement, she has to live in Hawthorne House with the rest of the billionaires family who essentially hate her.

Most of the important world building takes place in this house, and of course, I love it. There are two sides of this house. There is the massive inside filled with art and music and dozens of cars. A gym, basketball court, movie theatre, music theatre, dozens of libraries, an arcade and a freaking bowling alley. Yeah, this dude was loaded and now all of this is our main characters.

But underneath all of that extravagance, there’s secret tunnels and gears that open passageways and riddles to open doors and buttons that open secret compartments. There are so many riddles upon riddles and traps upon traps. Exploring this house was so much fun and my favorite part of the book.

I really liked all the characters. The crazy old great grandma was a lot of fun cause she enjoyed scaring people. The four brothers were all complete opposites and yet, they all got equal amount of pages. They were just characters there to fill in a space. All four brothers were essential for solving the riddle their grandfather, the billionaire, left behind. No one was an extra character and they were all so complex that immediately I got a vibe off of their characters. I either liked them, didn’t like them, or thought they were fine.

Out of the two brothers who are the main love interests, Grayson and Jameson, I will say that I choose Grayson. I adore him. His character started off as one who hated Avery for thinking she stole his grandfathers money and ended with a loyal boy who would die to protect the ones he loves. Jameson is a great character but he’s just not my type. He was a very tricky character that never meant what he said and never said what he meant. Normally I like characters who keep me guessing but Jameson just saw everything as a game. So I’m big time team Grayson. I love the funny guys but I’m also a huge enemies to lovers fan and loyalty is an extremely important trait in a love interest.

I cannot wait for the next book to come out. This was just so much fun. Please please please guys, if you have any mystery book recommendations or know a book that’s like this one, please let me know because oh my god, I enjoyed this so much! ...more

My love for this book is unexplainable. I mean from the characters to the riddles and mystery. This book always kept me on my toes and was a real page turner. I would have loved to see things from Libby's perspective because she is such an intriguing character that I can relate to. I definitely recommend this book to any and everyone. I had so much fun reading it and can't wait for the second book. ...more
