I’ve been recommended this book several times over again, and let me tell you, those recommendations were very good. I ended up loving the book, and even got a little teary eyed at the end. I absolutely love old Hollywood, it’s one of my favourite time periods (surprise) and I really enjoy learning about it more.

Evelyn is an astonishingly complex character that will knock you off your feet. Evelyn Hugo’s transformation throughout the book is incredible, especially since you get to see how she grows and become the person she is supposed to be. Even from the start, she’s very complex, and to understand her, you need to absorb every little detail of this book. It’s one of the things I loved about this book. The fact that every detail was important.

Harry, amazing. I loved him, especially his character introduction when Evelyn first met him. I also loved the fact that the author showed that platonic love was just as powerful as romantic love, especially since most books don’t show this. I also loved his personality, his charm, and how real he was. Something I really loved was how he out being a father above all else, which really struck home for me.

Celia St. James, what a beautiful name. I really liked how she balanced out Evelyn, and how she created boundaries, which every relationship should have. I loved her character. She knew that she was amazing, even if sometimes she was humble about it. It really showed that being humble isn’t a flaw.

I really liked the representation about the LGBTQ+ community and how even when it was so many years ago people still were LGBTQ+. Just because it’s in the past, doesn’t mean it couldn’t happen. I do wish that these characters had lived in a time where they could be proud of who they were completely, rather than having to hide a part of it.

Old Hollywood. The drama. The glam. I loved it all. It’s my obsession that I didn’t know about. I find it so interesting, since really, it was the time to be alive. So many new things were occurring, and don’t get me started on the outfits.

#BookTok made me do this.. Straight up, this isn't a lovely book or even an easy book to read..
Evelyn Hugo is the single most unabashed, immoral, unapologetic character I've ever encountered in the fictional world.. She takes wants she wants, by any means she wants and has no regrets whatsoever!

This book might not sit right with many people, especially the way Evelyn has done deeds in her life.. But what can you do when you are surrounded by a patriarchal society that has little to no opportunit ...more

So, ladies and gentlemen, there's basically no other way to say this - this book was everything I wanted, expected, hoped for, and still so much more. I am still truly blown away by how absolutely amazing this book actually was. I think that this should be required reading for everyone ever.

A story of loss, survival and heartbreak. "The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo" will always be one of the best books I have read that truly details the human experience. The flawed and imperfect characters are what make this book the fantastic and emotional masterpiece it is. Evelyn Hugo isn't perfect, she made lots of decisions that hurt the people who meant the most to her. Evelyn Hugo isn't perfect, she made lots of decisions that hurt the people who meant the most to her. She crawled her way up to fame. She valued the public's image of her, and that caused her to make lots of decisions, some that she regretted, some that she would make over and over again. Evelyn was powerful, with hunger for fame. She wanted to make something huge out of herself. But as she met different people, and got married seven times, Evelyn realised the true meaning of life and how she should have spent it. She's more human than most people. Taylor Jenkins Reid has a tendency for writing real and raw characters. Characters that you can't help but love and admire. Evelyn Hugo is one of those characters. As I reread this book, I felt the same emotions I had when first reading. But the second time I read it, I see how clever of a book it is and how much it speaks to me. "The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo" is a book that once stuck with me and will always stick with me. My heart will forever hold a place for this book and it's characters. Not to mention the amount of great quotes this book had. I'll list just a few of my favorites below.
