An emotional roller-coaster with an interesting plot and amazing characters - conveying a deep meaning of life.

This book had fewer conversations and more descriptions, not that I minded. It was necessary and it was beautifully written. The story was conveyed through events of the past and present simultaneously.

Do I really have to say it? Fine... I loved it!

it took me FOREVER to read it...that being said...

it's a beautiful book, i see and understand the hype. was honestly expecting a little more but it's wonderful !!!

the story is incredibly well written, the details impecable and the main characters (i mean Luc and Addie) loveable but also pretty damn easy to hate ngl.

personally, I'd love to read more about Luc & Addie, Henry was great but Luc intrigues me more. ...more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. I kept seeing people on tik tok saying this book was a classic and how it was written beautifully and how overall amazing it was. Needless to say, I went in with high expectations. And Addie LaRue did not disappoint.

First of all Addie is such a clever and wonderful main character, and it was such a journey to walk through all these phases of her life with her. She never gave up (even if it was just in spite) and she made the most out of her curse. She got to live and see the world, which was ex I kept seeing people on tik tok saying this book was a classic and how it was written beautifully and how overall amazing it was. Needless to say, I went in with high expectations. And Addie LaRue did not disappoint.

First of all Addie is such a clever and wonderful main character, and it was such a journey to walk through all these phases of her life with her. She never gave up (even if it was just in spite) and she made the most out of her curse. She got to live and see the world, which was exactly what she wanted.

I have never ever read a character whom I relate to more than Henry Strauss. The way he described his “storms” and problems with not feeling like enough, being overwhelmed about the possibilities of the future, and wanting time to stand still were like seeing my own thoughts on paper. VE Schwab did a wonderful job with this one, and the way that Henry’s story intertwined with Addie’s then left him with more possibilities than ever was so sweet.

I liked how Addie mentioned that what she and Henry had might not have been love, since they both were cursed and needed each other and possibly stayed together because they understood each other. Their story did feel like love to me because they made each other better and they truly cared for each other so deeply. The sacrifice that Addie made for Henry was heart wrenching and I am so upset that they didn’t get more time together.

Luc may have been the most complex character in this book, since he was a god made of darkness but you could see that from the moment he made himself that human form for Addie she began to humanize him. The way he cared for her but was also possessive and ruthless with her was a true reflection of his nature. He isn’t capable of love because there is nothing human about him but he seems to want to try. Reading about him and Addie’s interaction over the years was so interesting and he had me smiling every time he came in ngl.

This book is heartbreaking and tragic and incredibly beautiful. The small scenes (like when Addie and Henry were at the art gallery, when Addie inspired so many artists, etc) made this book feel so much more real and I felt completely immersed in their lives since the events were depicted so well. I loved how Addie was able to make her mark on art and the world and how Henry got to remember her. I think the ending of the book is very up to interpretation but I love to think that Addie outsmarted Luc and finally got her freedom. She definitely deserves it. VE Schwab never fails to write 5 star books and the readers can tell how much work went into writing this book. Whether we were in France, or Italy, or New York every chapter was a new experience. ...more

Czas spędzony z tą książka i wczytywanie się w historie był niesamowity. Nawet nie wiem co napisać w recenzji, po prostu brak mi słów aby opisać wielkość tej pozycji. Zakochałam się w piórze Schwab, czytanie zdań w tej książce było niebem. Cudownie spędzone 600 stron. Zakończenie lepiej niż wybitne. Będę zawsze i wszędzie polecać każdemu kogo spotkam. Jeśli czytasz obecnie tą recenzję, to proszę przeczytaj historie Addie LaRue, a obiecuję Ci, że nie pożałujesz.
