I re-read this via the 10th anniversary edition audiobook, and I am ever so glad I did. There was so much I had forgotten, first of all, and second of all the multicast audiobook rendering is fantastic. I loved the actor playing Shadow, but my favorite was Chernebog. "Then I keel you with my axe. Ha ha ha!" Whether you have read this before or not, I highly recommend this edition.

I could live without the creepy sex and violence, but I guess that's gods for you. I loved the concept of the old world gods and new world gods meeting up to duke it out and stake their claims. I do wish he had introduced more of the Judeo/Christian/Muslim gods It's hard to imagine a book on American Gods without them. The version I read did have an appendix with a chapter that had been removed that had Shadow briefly meeting Jesus. I do understand the complexity of adding them in but still.
