A fantastic graphic story! When Cici immigrates to America from Taiwan she is focused at first on what she is losing, most importantly her close connection with her grandmother. Some things quickly fall into place for her however like some good friendships. Adored this graphic novel and the depth it has in it. Moving from Taiwan to the US, Cici is adjusting but it’s hard and she misses her grandmother. When she joins a cooking contest to win money to bring her grandmother over, she learns a lot about herself and is able to add dashes of American culture to her own Taiwanese heritage of which she is very proud. Great book about friendship, cooking, Julia Child and culture.
