I really like Sarah Addison Allen. I've read almost all of her other books and I have liked every one of them! They are mostly just normal fiction but there is always a little element of magic in them that I love. She makes magic seem possible in the real world, which is my opinion it is. The Sugar Queen is about a woman named Josey who is dealing with a lot of difficult issues. She lives at home as a servant to her mother, basically, and tries to make up for being a terrible child. Another great read. While this book is written in the same vein as Garden Spells, her first novel, Sarah Addison Allen finds a new take on love found and love lost. Plus there's a wonderful twist at the end.

Really enjoyed The Sugar Queen. Was in a bit of a slump not wanting to read books (strangely odd for a bookworm), so when my friend lent me this book to read I thought why not?
After finishing the book I decided I want a secret 'Sugar Queen' closet full of goodies, to nibble on whilst I read 'Garden Spells'.
Really enjoyed the book.
P.s. Can anyone Identify the font on the front cover, which features the fairy wings on a blue background?? ...more

My favorite thing about Sarah Addison Allen's books? The way food is a character in its own right, that it is a motivator, an expression of emotion, more than just sustenance.
