Well, I was a little disappointed with this book. It wasn't horrible but I sort of expected more from the author. It wasn't like her other books. My favorite Allen novel is Garden spells because of her mystical way of writing. This book was more of a small mystery/romance story. Also, I didn't really connect to her characters. Now, I'm going to have to reread Garden spells to give me what I missed in this story. I actually got it from the library because I was waiting to receive the Peach Keeper

This is really a wonderful book about traditions, friendships and families. The more I read about the traditions of this town and The Blue Ridge Madam, the more curious I was to find out what happened so many years ago...There are untold secrets and mysteries that slowly unfold, leaving the reader wanting to know more.

Among all their high school contemporaries, only Willa Jackson and Paxton Osgood still live in their small hometown, Walls of Water, North Carolina. Willa, nicknamed "The Joker" for the pranks she used to play, is now somewhat reclusive, and runs the "green" sporting goods shop. I wanted to take my time let the story sink in and write a phenomenal review for this book, but alas, too much time has passed and I forgot. Everything explodes in Paxton's seemingly perfect Southern world. There obviously was some mag

I would like to rate this higher because Sarah's writing is like a cool glass of lemonade, sitting on my deck with my feet up in summer with a warm breeze. I love it and it makes me happy. But, this was my least favorite of her books. I just wanted more. I liked the story but wanted more depth to the book. Love the cover and the cameo from Claire. If you don't know who claire is go read Garden Spells.

This was a really good book. There wasn't as much magic in this book as there was in the other books I've read by Sarah Addison Allen. That's okay. I needed a light, happy book to read after the darkness of the last couple of books I'd read. There were times when I was looking for a little bit more.

I had to push myself to keep reading this. I never really got into it and didn't feel like I connected with the characters. It seemed a little choppy at the beginning with a lot of names and got a better towards the end. However I will continue to read Sarah Addison Allen's books!

I wouldn't recommend it, but I did enjoy it for a quick read! I found myself thinking "oh brother" at one point though, as there was a lot of effort made for magical realism. Have enjoyed some of this author's other work much more. Can't say I respected the writing in this one...
