Well, I was a little disappointed with this book. It wasn't horrible but I sort of expected more from the author. It wasn't like her other books. My favorite Allen novel is Garden spells because of her mystical way of writing. This book was more of a small mystery/romance story. Also, I didn't really connect to her characters. Now, I'm going to have to reread Garden spells to give me what I missed in this story. I actually got it from the library because I was waiting to receive the Peach Keeper

I wouldn't recommend it, but I did enjoy it for a quick read! I found myself thinking "oh brother" at one point though, as there was a lot of effort made for magical realism. Have enjoyed some of this author's other work much more. Can't say I respected the writing in this one...
