I was so excited to finally have this book. I love this author, her writing is magical. I always finding myself underlining passages and making notations in the columns when something strikes me. I love that her writing makes me pause in the story, put down the book and stare off into the void for a bit to consider what I just read. She writes like a good meal that you want to revisit again.

I didn't think I was as immersed in this book as much as her other titles at the start. The beginning didn't cast its spell over me the way Garden Spells and The Girl Who Chased the Moon did. I always love the writing of Sarah Addison Allen- they are such wonderful stories of women and everyday magic, and a little extra magic as well. They are southern, magical, and beguiling.

I just love this author and was so excited when this latest book came out. The story is written in that whimsical, mystical style that you come to expect from this author...but the story fell a bit flat for me in places. The interactions between Willa and Colin weren't as magnetic as I have come to expect from this author; however, I thought she did a fantastic job with Sebastian and Paxton's story. Also, Sarah's books tend to have a little mystery to them but this one just seemed a bit obvious

4.5 stars. I devoured this book in less than 24 hours. It was an amazing story of friendship. Sigh. I think Sarah Addison Allen needs to write faster ;) 9/11/12 Reading this book for the second time and it is just as good as the first time. Such an intriguing story and a beautiful novel of friendship.

I really like this Author. I've read all her books which contain a touch of magic.
