My favorite of Sarah's is Garden Spells because of course it was the first one I read and the first one I fell in love with. Lost Lake now has become my favorite the magic in it is wonderful and it was unpredictable. I loved all the characters and wished the story didn't have to end. I read this in two days, which is a bit unusual for me cause it can take me a while. I just love, love, loved it!!!

I love reading Sarah Addison Allen's books. She has such a great story telling ability. I couldn't wait to finish the book, but didn't want it to end either! There are so many great quotes in this book - I may have to read it again right now! Thank you for again lifting my spirits and making me believe in magic again.

This was an interesting read. I have to say that after a 2 year wait I was hoping for the tried-true-formulaic Sarah Addison Allen that I fell in love with after the first chapter of Garden Secrets--this book is simply not that same woman. Here's what I loved: I loved that she branched out and delved deeper into female friendships instead of the main focus being about the tender, yet sometimes awkwardness surrounding falling in love. I think it's very safe to say you can see how her diagnosis, j

As with all of her other books, I whipped through this - even though I kept consciously telling myself to slow down, to breathe it in, to let myself fall right into the scenery. This is what Sarah's words do: they come right off the page, float gently up and wrap themselves around you until you are right there, at Lost Lake, feeling the humidity, smelling that muggy, swampy air, seeing the moss hanging all around you.

I love Allen's exploration of women characters, from a young girl, to a newly widowed woman, and a slew of older women. Who writes about old women? One is even mute. And a world with a soft magical realism? With whimsical little asides? Nice. It was a sweet little book that was a pretty quick read and I was happy while I read it.

I love this book so much! I can't even quite put it all into words yet but I'll come back and give it a go. If you like Sarah Addison Allen definitely read this book. It is beautiful and heartfelt and a little sad at times.

As usual with SAA's books, I loved the characters in this book. I did find that after all of the wonderful backstories, the ending came a little too quickly for me.

Though I didn't feel the instant magic of some of her other books I still enjoyed the stories of each character and how they all came to Lost Lake.
