Sarah Addison Allen has answered all our prayers and given us another story about the Waverley Family. Allen evokes all the wonderful things about close-knit families and small Southern towns. From the first paragraph, readers are transported back to Bascom, North Carolina, to read more about the beloved quirky Waverelys. I really appreciated that the story doesn't pick-up where we left them, but rather, Allen picks the story up nine years later.

I was waiting this year, for a book I really wanted to read to be my first read of the year. My patience paid off because NetGalley approved me for First Frost, which is probably the book I most wanted to read of them all! I was a little book starved by the time I read it, and I devoured it. I'm sure Sarah Addison Allen was r

When reading First Frost, in the beginning, you feel just as out of sorts and anxious as the characters. Things are not quite right in the Waverly world. But by the time you time you finish the story, you are once again enveloped in the magic of their world. I love the female relationships in this book, ...more

Another delightful book by Sarah Addison Allen. Though I've loved everything she's written, I had some concerns about this follow-up book. I should have known better - it was as charming as I'd hoped, and I was thrilled that the characters remained true to those I'd met the first time around.
