I enjoyed this book way more than the first, even tho not much was going on majority of the time. It felt like a good step up, and imo benefited from being slower paced. I started to really like Alina as well, also Nikolai >>>>
This had a lot to live up to and it didn’t hit quite right 😭 maybe I should have gone into it right after book 1 and I would have felt the ship more

If you’ve read my review of Shadow and Bone, you know how torn I am over the book. It has so many strong aspects that I like, but a bunch of other ones that are problematic. While I think Siege and Storm is a much better book, it still falls victim to the same issues.
What I really like is that Alina is quite a complex character in this book. She’s struggling with the reality of what she did in the last book, and fighting against an addiction to her increasing power. I fi ...more
