Ugh! Alina….I just found her so tiresome in this book especially when she’s talking about Mal drifting away from her day by day. Who cares?! The future of Ravka certainly doesn’t depend on it. I also just couldn’t bring myself to believe Mal wanted to run away from all the problems with Alina. ( you should always run towards your problems, you know why? CAUSE THAT’S WHAT HEROES DO!!). I just finished and it was really good! I'm going to be giving some thoughts down below :)
I love how well Genya's character is written. She has so many layers to her and my book came with the short story The Tailer, and I really enjoyed that.
I am not a huge Darkling fan and I do not understand how Darklina shippers exist.
Mal is a little too mediocre for me, but I do like Nikoli. I wished that they would have made him more of a love interest.
I'm excited to read the next book! ...more

Nikolai is the best character in the Shadow and Bone trilogy, I SAID WHAT I SAID, and chances are you agree with me. Anyways, we meet him and he is everything that you'd want in a smug rich boy. He CARRIES this book. Mal being jealous makes me want to throw up, he and Alina practically have no chemistry, but she's free to make choices that disappoint us all.
