Now that I read Caraval, I just had to come back and re-read this. While it does say you don't have to read Caraval series before reading this, I would highly recommend it. They are not directly related, but it still does shed some light on certain events and characters' backstories and makes it easier to understand the storyline.

Stephanie Garber once compared Jacks to Klaus Mikaelson and I have to say I wholeheartedly agree. He's a near-villainous character you can't help but love or want to see more of.
