Wonderful story; I read this book while also listening to the audiobook that is narrated by Lauren Graham. The story touches on the loss of a parent, the grief process and how it affects the relationship with your spouse and the people around you. The author does an excellent job describing the scenery in Italy, the food and the people.

"I cannot do this alone. I need my mommy and I don't care who knows it." — Rory Gilmore
I listened to the audiobook of One Italian Summer and it was narrated by Lauren Graham. She did a fantastic job! My mom and I watched Gilmore Girls together when I was younger and I’ve rewatched it several times as an adult- it’s my main comfort show, so having her narrate this book was perfect. My mom is definitely the Lorelai to my Rory.

Very sweet book about separation and grief. The main character, Katy loses her mother to cancer and decides to take the trip they had planned to Positano. From there the book takes a supernatural turn and Katy gets to meet and hang out with her mom of 30 years ago. She also meets a man in the hotel while she struggles with her own marriage. To summarize: she finds her mother and herself. The pieces fit by the end and her “perfect” mother is just a girl with dreams after all.
