Jane Eyre. Multiple readings of this amazing classic and I'm still impressed with its sustainability. Orphan, loner, victim, teacher, governess, servant, survivor--this and more describes Jane. She created the underdog heroine, the unattractive femme with a golden heart who captures the hero, the rogue. Bronte writes with clarity and veiled imagery. She draws us in with her direct address of "dear reader” and she provides an inspiration of paradox with Jane’s contained passion. As for the novel?
