Before I start my review, let me say a few things-

~I read this book for the first time when I was 14, and though some of my opinions have changed I will still love this series.
~This series was my first introduction to YA, and hence I overlooked a ton of things the first time I read it. Now even thou

Second, there is a naked man’s body.

Everyone in this book just needs to go find a hole and fall in there and stay there for a lifetime. Preferably.
and Clace or whatever it is that y'all are called, you guys suck!!

*Everyone does not include MALEC, Izzy and Simon. These people are precious and will be protected at all costs.

Okay first of all, what is this cover?
No. Just no.

“The boy never cried again, and he never forgot what he'd learned: that to love is to destroy, and that to be loved is to be the one destroyed.”

― Cassandra Clare, City of Bones

City of Bones is an urban fantasy about a girl named Clary who lives in New York and discovers the magical world overlapping with the modern one after seeing a few teenage shadowhunters (who are a part of that world) kill a demon at a dance club.

SOME SPOILERS AHEAD
Now I wanted to wait on making a review for this book because I know so many people love it and that scares me.
I did not like this book.
I've tried to read it on several occasions and every single time I read it I was disappointed.

Story: 3/5
The story was interesting enough to keep me reading all the way through but that is not saying much. Basically our main character Clary's mom goes missing at the beginning of the book and she joins this group of special teens who have power

Did you ever find your twelve-year-old self in the middle of a math schoolwork in the classroom - with a book in her hands and a greedy look in her eyes?

See, at the time, the movie adaptation premiered in our country the previous day. My best friend, A, recently saw it. I remember the movie tie-in paperback of the book edition in her hands and her accompanying hushed shrieks she would cry at me about it. But I was pessimistic, at the time. She wanted me to read it so bad, but I was trying to get

This was my second time reading this book (the first time was close to 4 or 5 years ago). This book holds some nostalgia to it because it was one of the first books I read when transitioning from middle grade books to young adult. At the time I loved it and quickly fell in love with the shadowhunting universe. I still follow all of Cassandra Clare's books and to say the least her writing has DEFINITELY improved. I am a huge Cassandra Clare fan but The Mortal Instruments is very much my least lik ...more
