That ending was unexpectedly wholesome.

Finally getting on the Mortal Instruments bandwagon!! I have seen the movie adaption and some scenes of the TV show. I will admit, I was a little apprehensive before starting reading this. This is a series that is sooo hyped. I was worried my expectations were too high and I would be left disappointed. However, I can totally see what all the hype is about. This isn’t an amazing read, but I can see how much potential it has. I love the twists and turns. The world Cassandra Clare created is mind b ...more

The plot was pretty slow paced thoughtout City of Bones but I felt like the world Cassandra made so far is amazing.

****3.5 STARS****

After reading The Infernal Devices and The Last Hours this book seemed a bit dull.

I mean the plot and the introduction to the shadowhunter universe was phenomenal, to imagine that when the book was first released, this story was obviously turning heads.

But that’s where I have renewed feelings for this one. After TLH its difficult to connect with these characters due to the writing style. It’s like watching through a black & white lens when I have seen Cassandra’s colourful wri

i mean...see it might be overhyped, but the sequels of this book, prequels of the whole series, sequels of prequels, sequels of this series, an upcoming sequels of sequels series, with a partner series involving few of the characters from this series, and a few additional books, really make up for everything i swear. and this one's the first so objectively its the worst and i still like it so trust me. it really does get better. ...more

I really hate giving bad reviews to books, but this one just wasn't my cup of tea. I actually hoped that I'll like it, since when the tv show first came out, I was obsessed and that was the time I bought the first two books of this series. I even started reading the first book at that time, but for no apparent reason, I put it down after like 20 pages and never came back to it. About half a year ago, I watched the movie and I didn't like it at all, so I decided that I just need to finally read t ...more

I personally loved this book. The movie did a good job at following it with a few minor changes (of course!)but it really kept me captivated. You have this moment where you are sucked into her world, but you're never just thinking about Clary. you're thinking about the people around her and how she has no idea the effect she has on them. The movie did a very good job at portraying the hilarious moments; although not all of them. ...more

Since I had already listened to the Clockwork books before starting back at the beginning, I found this episode less sophisticated and more geared to a younger reader than the later series. But, it was still pretty good and I plan to go on to the next within a few weeks.
