Frenchie, an Indigenous teen of North America, becomes one of the hunted for his bone marrow, which the Council believes holds the key to the ability for non-Indigenous people to dream. His journey leads him through harrowing experiences and emotions that allows him to understand his heritage and his people.
I really enjoyed this book. Lots of metaphorical meaning, which to some degree, mirrors our current state of existence.

In a bleak dystopian world destroyed by climate change, the government is on the hunt to capture indigenous people to harvest their bone marrow - for the DNA of Indians holds the secret to enabling white people the ability to dream again. A teenager named Frenchie is on the run with a motley crew of other indigenous folks hiding from the Recruiters. Lots of references to Indian Boarding Schools, the systematic consumption and eradication of culture and history.
