This book is a biography of the life of Alta Weiss. The book tells the story of how Alta defied social norms, and became a major league baseball player. The book starts from Weiss' childhood where a lot of people thought a girl should not play baseball, because it was not feminine enough. Even as an adult, Weiss had to over prove herself in order to join the major league. In the end Weiss is allowed to play on the team, and defies all social norms of her time.
