This is one of my all time favorite stories from childhood. "Amazing Grace" is a realistic fiction about an American girl that wants to play Peter Pan in her school play. Some of her classmates discourage Grace from this dream by saying that Peter Pan has to be a boy, and that Peter Pan is not black. From the love, and advice from her Grandmother, Grace is able to overcome the negativity, and auditions for the part of Peter Pan. Will she get the part!?! The children that are illustrated in the book are very diverse as far as race and ethnicity.
