I found this book quite interesting to read, in part because of the historical context the authors provide as well as some of the themes that continue to this day. For example, welfare versus workfare. Local development and control of relief efforts as opposed to federal relief programs. I also appreciated learning the originals of the vitamin daily recommended doses and the growing science of home economics.
