The many involved reviews say it all. This book was written first and never published with good reason. To Kill a Mockingbird is far more interesting and entertaining, but this book challenges every thing Scout and we know about her father. It brings home the "gentile" racism of the 1950's Southern Whites who thought they supported equal rights.
