ho appena finito questo libro. in questo esatto istante.
avete mai pensato al masochismo? esattamente, sul dizionario aggiungeranno la mia foto accanto a quella parola. insomma, sto piangendo.. per quale motivo? perché fa male. però fa anche bene.
leggere again and again di una delle storie d'amore più antiche fa male.. fa male perché ripercorri il dolore di achille, di patroclo, di entrambi prima e dopo la morte.
scusate per le parole, ma neottolemo mi ha sempre fatto girare i coglioni. insomma, l ho appena finito questo libro. in questo esatto istante.

ma teti.. quanto ti ho odiata. in questo libro sei stata diversa.. cattiva. eri accecata dall'odio, ti stavo quasi confondendo per eris.. ma sei stata tu quella che mi ha salvata, alla fine di tutto. hai salvato me, hai salvato patroclo e hai salvato il loro amore. è grazie a te che adesso vivono per sempre. è questo che mi ha fatto capire che anche tu hai un cuore. e non posso che piangere di gioia nel leggere ciò che hai fatto. una degna fine che solo grazie a te poteva essere compiuta.
insomma, che dire.. ho rimandato la lettura di questo libro fino a questo momento, non mi sentivo pronta a leggere ancora una volta una cosa del genere (+ non mi piace essere stressata dalle persone, anche se si fosse trattato di harry potter NON lo avrei letto se qualcuno mi avesse scartavetrato le palle per farmelo leggere.. mamma mia, datemi il mio spazio, sono io che devo leggere, non voi).. evidentemente il famoso momento è giunto.
e sono qui a dirvi che ho sempre odiato le storie d'amore, ma che ho sempre amato le coppie che vivono di un amore sincero, soprattutto se si parla di una delle opere antiche che più amo in assoluto.
vorrei scrivere e scrivere e scrivere, ma sono veramente wasted in questo momento.. volevo leggere altro, ma non so quanto mi convenga tbh.. penso che leggerò una volta resuscitata o cose del genere, perché adesso sono veramente 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮.
e quindi niente, bella gente, sono sicura che, nonostante questa sia una storia omosessuale che magari non può piacere a tutti, ricordatevi che è pur sempre storia, e la storia è bellissima.
e, comunque, mi sono rovinata gli anni del ginnasio al liceo classico per tutti i miei discorsi pro homo a livello Iliade (e non solo) durante le interrogazioni di epica, però penso ne sia valsa la pena. anche perché, detto fra noi, la mia prof era così rincoglionita che non aveva mai sentito la variante del mito di euripide (elena fantasma etc etc).. e quindi quando mi sentì dire sta cosa prima mi disse che ero pazza, poi andò su internet e il giorno dopo si scusò dicendo che avevo ragione.. e poi mi prese sul culo perché ogni volta che parlava di letteratura greca spuntavo come un fungo.. ma vabbè, chiusa parentesi, scrivere questa recensione poco recensione mi ha fatta riprendere un pochino.. so, leggete anche voi questo libro. prendetevi il vostro tempo, se siete masochisti come me, perché la fine è quella e già la sapete.. quindi o vi mettete l'anima in pace e portate pure i fazzoletti, oppure fate prima e non leggete niente. io vi avevo avvisati.
per patroclo e achille.
per l'eternità.

Such a beautiful telling of Patroclus and Achilles lives, heart wrenching ending. I loved all the elements of Greek mythology, and the writing style was poetic.
Would have liked a little map to help me understand all the place names and king names a bit easier though!

5 stars. All i have to say is 5 stars. Before reading I saw reviews from people who were unimpressed with the book and I disagree with everything they said. I absolutely LOVED this book. Was it emotionally damaging? Yes. Did I cry? Yes. Was it completely worth every single second I spent reading it? Yes. It was.

Don’t get mad at me but I just didn’t find it as amazing as everyone else. I think the concept and the writing was all great it just was hyped up so much I didn’t feel the same excitement and connection as I believe I would’ve if I hadn’t heard anything about it. It took me a while to get into it but I did enjoy the last 150 or so pages and balled at the end, now i’m writing this it probably is very close to 4 stars for me😂
